About
Ciao, I’m Giulia
I’m the teacher behind Oggi Italiano. I was born and raised in Milan, Italian is my native language, and I help complete beginners start speaking it with confidence.

Why I created Oggi Italiano
I studied Intercultural Communication at university and have always been fascinated by languages and the way they connect people. I also speak Mandarin Chinese, and I’ve spent a lot of time travelling, living abroad, and meeting people from different cultures — including through hosting on Airbnb. Those experiences turned into a real passion for teaching my own language, Italian, to people from all over the world, using English as a shared language when it helps.
I created ItalianByGiulia as a space where language, culture, and connection come together — and it grew into Oggi Italiano, a course built specifically for complete beginners starting from zero.
What shaped my method
My approach comes from my own experience learning Mandarin. Before my first trip to Taiwan, I realised my university course had given me plenty of theory but not the confidence to actually use the language in real situations. A more practical course later showed me the value of combining independent study, guided practice, and review — and that became the structure of Oggi Italiano.
- 1. Study before. You build a foundation on your own with structured video lessons.
- 2. Practise during. You put the language to use with me in live group or one-to-one sessions.
- 3. Review after. You consolidate it with review materials, PDFs, and exercises made for learners.
My teaching philosophy is simple: make Italian practical, natural, and easy to start, with a strong focus on real-life communication. Rather than leaving you with theory you can’t apply, the method connects language with culture and everyday situations, so you prepare before a lesson, practise with guidance during it, and consolidate afterwards.
Experience
- A university degree in Intercultural Communication, and a certification in language teaching.
- More than eight years teaching languages, and teaching Italian since my university years.
- In-person and online lessons, including one-to-one, with international learners from many backgrounds — among them Chinese, Japanese, and Indian students.
- Taught at a private school and worked as an ESL teacher in China.
